The gelcoat is self-curing, and the wax in the gelcoat helps with curing, so there's no need to cover with plastic. It comes with hardener, and you can put multiple coats on if you need to build up an area. The coverage is not as good as other products, so you might need to do two coats. The pot life is about 20 minutes, and the dry time once spread out is about one hour. Gelcoat does not stick well to epoxy, so it's not advisable to use this on cured fiberglass with epoxy resin.
