  • Question: Will the interface allow me to setup a ping test to a device on the network and if that device fails ping then the outlet will reboot?

    Answer: I sent my back, i don't know about now but it was very hard to configure
  • Question: Will this support switching 240v? I.e. using on a European power network with a plug adapter?

    Answer: I want to but have not tried it yet!! However, I am an electrical engineer circuit design guy and taking one apart I found the power supply used is a standard module from China supplier that claims on data-sheet to work up to 240VAC and the relay is rated at 250VAC 10Amps. I was unable to find the European one in the USA which is what I prefer since the pins are round and clearly 240VAC. Good luck. I suggest trying it and let us all know if it blows up. :-) Maybe someday we can buy the EU version here in USA.
  • Question: Can I have conditions for when the outlet is being used? For instance, if I plug a light into the outlet, I want an email when the light turns on.

    Answer: This is possible to do, but you should be aware that the management of conditions for these outlet controllers is much more complicated than requesting an email when something happens.
  • Question: Is the outlet controllable over ssh? And if so, can the ssh credentials be changed?

    Answer: Yes you can.
  • Question: Does this work with alexa? (Echo or Dot)

    Answer: Ubiquiti hasn't updated the firmware for this device since early 2015, and I don't see any sign they intend on doing so. Alexa is not supported and probably will not be unless you write the software to do it yourself.
  • Question: Can I simply buy it and connect to my router to access it through controller? Or do I need to buy something else too?

    Answer: Just to clarify, this is also not specific to a 192.168.1.xxx network. It will work on any 802.11b/g/n network. When you first plug in the device, it will announce its own Wifi network that you can connect to with a laptop or phone, and from there tell you can select the network that it should connect to. Configuration is super simple, and once the device is connected to a Wifi network on the same subnet as a controller, it will automatically be discovered by the controller.
