The system comes with foam blocks for starting seeds and net pots, but these were not substantial and had a chemical smell, leading to the preference for alternative rockwool plugs. The system does require nutrient solution, which is an additional purchase. Adding water to the system is somewhat challenging, as it needs to be done through one of the lower pots.
