It is suitable for use on plates, platters, bowls, and other items with a round stock capacity of 8", octagon and square capacity of 8", and hexagon capacity of 5 3/4". While it won't work as easily on odd shapes, it is very handy for finding the center on dowels. The product is well-packaged and delivery was fast. It has limited uses if you have another unmarked protractor, but it is useful when you need it. It would be more helpful if it had a 90-degree mark. Although it may take careful measuring, 1/2 round can be marked with it. Overall, this is a great little tool and useful for finding a center.
