I recently bought this product. While placing it in my tank the housing that holds the output part keeps coming off. Is it supposed to do that?
Answer: If you mean the black housing, then no. If you mean the clear round part on top, then yes. The clear part is meant to float at the water line of the aquarium. -

Does this quiet down after a break-in period? 24hrs and the impeller is still noisy.
Answer: The one I have makes no noise and I always have it connected. -
Question:
Just received mine today, no filter material inside at all. Literally just an impeller and the skimmer float. Is there supposed to be a filter inside?
Answer: There is no filter. It's only used to get rid of surface scum and not for filtering the whole tank. However, you can cut filter sponge to fit inside if you wish, but it will need to be cleaned frequently due to the scum buildup.
