It works best when installed properly and with an adhesive, such as the green noise block adhesive. However, it may be a bit firm to walk on if used as a pad under an area rug. Some users reported deterioration after several years, especially in tropical climates, revealing that it is not ideal for prolonged exposure to the elements.
