Answer: You have to COMPLETELY assemble the grill, piece by piece. Easily done by one person. Overall setup takes about an hour -

Answer: I've had it for only one season now. It did a great job on a baby back rib and steaks with mesquite. I'll need more time to determine how long it will last. -

Can you operate the grill without installing the smoker on the side?
Answer: Yes but you'd have to get like a separate piece of metal to cover the hole where the smoker would go which it doesn't come with. If you don't install the smoker there's a huge hole which would be too much airflow for the grill. -

Can I boil water in a pot using the grill? Looking for purification and hygiene during blackouts
Answer: You probably could, it might take a while but, as long as you have an oven safe pot & lid and your fire is hot. I would personally use a propane/white gas stove because those fuels last for a very long time and it would be a lot easier. -
