The Mitutoyo 530-114 Vernier Caliper is a beautifully designed tool that is extremely accurate and endlessly useful. It is machined to very tight tolerances, has a silky satin finish that makes numbers easy to read, and is etched just below the surface so the markings can last forever. It is a great option for someone who needs precise measurements occasionally and doesn't want to have to worry about battery life. This product comes with a lock screw to fix the measurement, and the 1/16ths and 1/8ths scales result in a resolution of 1/128th of an inch. It is made in Japan and has kept calibration when taken care of properly. However, the nylon sleeve is flimsy, and it is better to keep the cardboard box for better impact protection. The Mitutoyo numbering system is confusing and makes finding the right product challenging. It is a high-quality tool that is on par if not better than Starrett. However, its inch scale is in fractions rather than decimal, which is a downside for those who want to read quickly without conversions or calculations.
